James Dale Goetzinger, 69, 2052 49th Street Marion formerly of Hiawatha went to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Manor Care following a long illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Deacon Al Scharosch will officiate. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Friday from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
Surviving in addition to his wife Janice are four daughters, Teresa Wiener of Alexandria, VA, Mary Goetzinger Mike Faurot of Universal City, TX, Paula Goetzinger Ed Lynch of Iowa City and Dana Lindsey-Ballas Eric Ballas of Hiawatha; six grandchildren, Anthony and Christian Lindsey, Bryce and Cameron Lynch, Solomon Wiener, and Kelsey Ballas; three sisters, Betty Conrad of Delhi, Sharon Daniels of Bagley, WI and Marge Tuthill of Dubuque; two brothers, Darrell Goetzinger of Marion and Gene Goetzinger of Graf; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo John and Robert Goetzinger; and two sisters, Linda Berger and Geraldine Fleming.
James was born November 30, 1938 in Graf the son of Leo and Magdalene Mohr Goetzinger. He attended a one room school house in Graf through the 8th grade. He married Janice Marie Young on November 24, 1960 in Dubuque. James was a signal maintainer for Chicago Great Western Railroad, he worked at Farmstead as an electrician and then Linn-Mar Schools in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Before his illness robbed him of his strength, James loved to fish, garden, travel with his family in the camper and spend time with his grandchildren. He was an all around handyman in the house and with the car and was a great storyteller of his railroad days.
