Wanda M. Ullrick Ross, 87, of 1900 Hamilton Street SW, died Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Cottage Grove Place after a long illness. Graveside memorial services will take place at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of The Cross Section. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include a daughter Sharon K. Ullrick, her sister Mildred M. Ashley, grandson Eric M. Thompson, sister-in-law Arylene Ashley, 4 nieces and 2 nephews. Also surviving are special friends Deloris, Jim, Marsha, the Adkins family, and special pets ET, Lucy, Sam, and Smokie.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Phoebe Ashley, brothers Harold Ashley and Gerald Gib Ashley, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Wanda was born September 10, 1920 in Delta, Iowa, and later moved to Cedar Rapids with her family in the 1930's. She enjoyed family time, basketball, golf, word puzzles, music, cards and eating out. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandson. Her daughter Sharon fondly remembers being blessed with a great mother, who was her inspiration for the way she lives her life; strong, loving, and caring.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Cottage Grove Place for the caring way they took care of Wanda. Also, Trudie, who Sharon couldn't have done it without you. And, Mary Jane for always being there for Sharon.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Wanda's honor are made to The American Lung Association.
