Clairbel M. Nelson, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away quietly in her
sleep Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Mercy Hospital following an extended illness.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 13th at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with interment following at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, June 12th at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Clairbel was born May 30, 1922 in Cainsville, MO. to Grace Longfellow and Herbert McLain; both who preceded her in death. She met her husband, Harvey, the love of her life, in 1938 and they married August 27, 1940. They had seventy wonderful years together and four children were born of this marriage.
Clairbel is survived by her husband Harvey; daughters Patricia Koch and her husband Jack, of Oklahoma; and Linda Dreier and husband Darryl, of Texas; and son Michael Nelson of New York. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by their son, Kenneth Nelson of Montana.
A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved life, Clairbel will be missed. She was an inspiration to all with a smile on her face even during her times of health trials and tribulations.
