Fatima M. Igram, 91, passed away on Tuesday May 27, 2008, at Northbrook Manor after an extended illness. Services: 2:30 p.m., Thursday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Burial: Muslim National Cemetery. Visitation will be today at 1:00 p.m.
Fatima is survivied by a daughter, Emney Yehia Shousher of Oregon, Ohio, a son, Mohamed Sally Igram of Cedar Rapids, daughters-in-law, Aziza Igram of Cedar Rapids, and Jamile Igram of Toledo, Ohio, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.
She is also survived by sisters, Ishie Leo Petersen of Olin, Emney Semelroth of Cedar Rapids, Salha Hamad of Bethel, CT, a brother, M. Bob Kay Hamed of Cleveland, Ohio, and sisters-in-law LaVonna Hamed and Lucille Hamed of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hassan, two sons, Abdallah and Kalid "Joe"Igram, her parents, her brothers, Abe and Emmett Hamed, and sister, Lila Omar.
Fatima was born June 27, 1916, on a farm in Fayette County, Iowa, to Hussein and Sheriffe Hamed. She married Hassan A. Igram on January 31, 1932, in Cedar Rapids. She was the last surviving member of the founders of the Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids. Her family thanks all those who participated in her care the last few years. She will be dearly missed.
Memorial donations may be directed to the American Heart Association, St. Luke's Hospice or the Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids.
