Memorial

Lola H. Larson, 89, a resident of Linn Manor Care Center, died there Wednesday, May 28, 2008, following a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Services at 10:30 AM Saturday in Kenwood Park United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Rev. Laura Smith will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and at the church after 10 AM on Saturday.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years Lloyd, a son Craig and wife Nita of Muscatine, Iowa, and daughter Julie Schwartz and husband Rob of Sheridan, Wyoming, a sister Joan Lensch of Vinton, Iowa, two grandchildren, Natalie and Christopher Larson, two step grandchildren Otto and Joe Schwartz, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, twin sister Lois Hauser, and Gladys Meves.

Lola was born April 17, 1919 in Watkins, Iowa to Fred and Anna Werner Hauser. She graduated valedictorian from Van Horne High School in 1936. She attended Iowa State Teachers College, and taught Jr. High School in Grandview, Iowa. She married Lloyd C. Larson on September 20, 1941 in Van Horne, Iowa. In 1944 she graduated from the University of Chicago with a degree in Social Service Administration. During WW II she did social work with the American Red Cross.

Lola was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. She enjoyed golf, bowling, playing bridge, bird watching, the Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeye's.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kenwood Park United Methodist Church.
