Sam Dessenko, 76, of Richmond, KY, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died in the Compassionate Care Center, Richmond, KY, after short battle with cancer. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Survivors include three sons, Clinton Connie Dessenko of Lehigh Acres, FL, Quentin Dessenko of Cedar Rapids, and Tracy Carmen Dessenko of Richmond, KY; and five grandchildren, William and Nathan DeCuzzi, Brittney, Douglas and Sean Dessenko; One sister Ella Kanko of Minot, ND.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Sam was born on June 10, 1931 in Kief, ND to John and Mathilda Seleshanko Dessenko. He married Shirley Knodel on June 20, 1954 in Kief, ND. She died in May of 2006. Sam worked for Quaker Oats for over 38 years, retiring in 1993. Sam enjoyed woodworking, socializing, travel and being with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Hospice Care Plus @ 208 Kidd Drive, Berea, Kentucky 40403.
