Memorial

G. Helen Janda, 87, passed away at Willow Gardens, Marion, Iowa on May 13, 2008 following a long illness.
There will be a visitation Saturday, May 17th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM preceding the funeral service at 12:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church by The Rev. Linda Hansen Bibb. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Helen was born on January 25, 1921 in Clinton, Iowa to John and Marion Trippe Young. She lived in Clinton for 8 years and Chicago, IL for 8 years before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1937. She attended Wilson High School and Paris Beauty Academy. She married Paul Janda on April 5, 1941. They later divorced. She was a devoted member of Salem United Methodist Church, Rachel Circle, and the Emmaus Community, walk 8. She was known for her love of baking, especially kolaches. She loved to knit and made Christmas stockings for every family member. She enjoyed reading, watching game shows, eating out and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Sharon and Louis Busch, Charlene and Tom Harrison, Paulette and Dick Boquist and Larry and Teresa Janda. Her grandchildren, Joe Hansen, Bob Neidermayer, John and Jenna Hansen, Rick and Michelle Busch, Jane Busch, Brett Mumford, Julie and Al Brown, Brian and Betsy Harrison, Mike Boquist, Matt Boquist, Ashley Curran, Amy and Jeff Mayer, Summer Janda, Jeff Schulte, Nick and Kourtnee Janda and Lindsey Janda. Her great grandchildren include Morgan, Jakob, John, Erik, Cole, Sarah, Simon, Savannah, Allen, Chase, Lexi, Braxton, A.J. and Ella, and a sister-in-law, Bessie Janda.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Julius Young; and a great grandson, Rusty Brown.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Willow Gardens and Darcie and Cori of Mercy Hospice.
