James Joseph Davenport

Working with Jim in Dialysis and knowing his family for years, I extend my sympathy and prayers. What a WONDERFUL man I got to know in such a short time. I will always remember our talks about children, his experiences in the Military and his unforgetable personality. God bless~ Nicky Ashby & Family

Seeing Jim every other day in dialysis was something I always looked forward to. His giant grin was so contagious, and I will miss our chats about children, school, and his family. He was so proud of you all!! Jim was a great joy to be around, and we will all miss him dearly. Fondly - Danielle Richmond

Remembering your family brings a smile to our face. Steve enjoyed chuming with Matt & Jon. Julie and Sue were very good babysitters. Your mom and dad raised some really nice kids. Knowing that your parents are with each other again should put smiles on all your faces!!.

Marty, Christina and family, We are praying for you all. We know this has been a difficult time in the life of your family. Hope it brings you much comfort to know that there are so many in Tampa/Lutz keeping you in their thoughts and prayers. Your dad sounded like a wonderful man...and if he was anything like his son, Marty, then we know he was a very extraordinary man indeed! We are honored to call you our friends. God's blessing and peace to you and all of your family at this time of sorrow. Much Love, Kris & Tim

I want to express my sympathy to all members of the Davenport Family. Jim truly was one of the best men I have ever known. I have many memories of growing up on Wilson Avenue and some of the best are swimming in your pool and both Helen and Jim putting up with all of us kids all of the time. I remember your dad having his annual summer party for all of the mailmen with all the cars parked out in the street. I'm sorry I could not make the services my mother and Dave are going to be there, but I want you all to know your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

We lived next door to the Davenport's for 8 years, and Jim always managed to bring a smile - no matter what. Our condolences to the family. Thanks Jim for being such a light to a dark world.

Jim and I shared a lot of good times when we shared a common driveway in the 1980's. I loved his fireworks cannon and he always came over to warn us when he was going to discharge it! Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this time of temporary separation. Remember, it's "bye for now." We'll soon meet again.

Dear Julie and family, Your dad was a kind, gentle soul with the patience of a saint! Even when there seemed to be a million of us at your house on Wilson Avenue, he was always cool, calm and collected -- and had a smile on his face. I will pray that you find peace and acceptance of your dad's passing. He's never really too far away, Julie. He is a part of who you are and how you live your life everyday. Am sending love and sympathy to you and all your family... Kathy Oster

Although I haven't seen the Davenport's in many many years, growing up in the neighborhood was what life as a "kid" is supposed to be all about. The first dog we ever had was hand picked for us from "Snowball's"litter 1967 by Mr. Davenport himself...."that's the best one, color of peanut butter" as he handed him to us. We named him "Skippy". I remember his postal uniform, his Firebird and his motorcyle...that he let me sit on once, but only if he was there! "The Davenport's Pool" was probably the only in-ground pool for miles and was the envy of every kid in the neighborhood. Even got to swim in it a few times! Slept overnight once on the screened patio remembering how "nice" Mr. and Mrs. Davenport were by wishing me a "good morning" and serving up a great breakfast. The "Halloween Haunted House", trying to jump over the hedge in the front yard and the sounds of musical practicing and playing. Wonderful childhood memories courtesy of a man and his family that have left a lasting impression on a now 52 year old "kid" and yet he never even knew he did it. Farewell Mr. Davenport. Farewell neighbor! My deepest heartfelt sympathy to each of you and your families.
