My wife, Diane, used to work with Imogene and the two became good friends and are today. During the February '07 ice storm, Imogene took my family in for several days since we had no power. It was on this first night that I met Jim over our first hot meal in days. I fondly remember his laugh and how quickly he made me feel comfortable. Most of all, I was touched at how caring and concerned he was that my three young kids, displaced from their home, were having fun. I suspect had we had more time, we would have become pals. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I remember the first time I met Jimmy at my wedding reception Rob introduced us and then walked away leaving me to talk to this man I had just met, through our conversation he kept referring to his Mother as "Ma" when I was growing up we were not allowed to call our Mother "Ma" and I just remember thinking this sweet Man who thinks the world of his Mother, has a "Naughty" side! However naughty you may have been I will remember what a sweet and generous person you were. -Kris Uncle Jimmy what can you say, he had IT, meaning that presence you know the one when a person walks into a room and is noticed, people move out of the way and say hello that don't even know you "CHARISMATIC" I see that in all the Lapole boys and have always thought if I only had half that much confidence. I will always remember you as one of the coolest guys I have ever met. Your going to missed! ROB Our daughter Lindsay remembers camping at Coralville Lake and it poured the whole weekend and Jimmy coming over and inviting us to his house to grill out and dry off, she remembers he had a whole cabinet of Swiss Cake Rolls and Twinkies for them.

I had the pleasure of working with Jimmy for five years before he retired. He was fun to work with and was always full of stories. I wish more people at work were like him. He will be missed Thanks Jimmy.

Elizabeth and family: I am so sorry to hear about Jim. He will be greatly missed. I am a retired letter carrier and friend of Jim's for many years. My sincere condolences. I remember many happy times with him, like the BeeGees concert in Ames in the 1980's where we had a great time together. You're in my thoughts, and if I was able to attend the service, I would be there. I am currently in Florida and won't be back until the weekend. Jim was a great guy and I will miss him. Gary Kaplan

My dad Dick Wood was Jimmy's cousin. He was a bricklayer also. I remember riding in the back of his corvette in the early 60's and Jimmy giving it gas and my dad and I were very impressed. God bless him.
