James R. LaPole, 64, of Solon died April 24, 2008 in his home following a sudden illness. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Osterhaus will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter Elizabeth Parsons and husband Bradley, granddaughters Kaitie and Olivia Parsons all of Cedar Rapids; a brother Robert LaPole, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; sisters Inetta Knapp, Marilyn Jones, and Karen LaPole all of Waterloo; his loving friend Imogene Taylor and her family; as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Ann LaPole, and his parents Robert and Erma.

James R. LaPole was born May 22, 1943 in Waterloo, the son of Robert M., Sr. and Erma LaPole. He was employed for many years as a mason by Seedorff Masonry Inc. He was a member of the local Bricklayers Union # 3. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, traveling, and above all his time spent with his family and friends. He especially loved the time he spent with his granddaughters. He will be remembered with love for his gentle nature, kindness, and generosity.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the memorial fund established in James' honor.
