As I sit here trying to put my thoughts into words, I cannot even remember how many years I have known the Polansky family. They have lived next door to my family and now my mother for as many years as I can remember! As a young child, I can remember thinking that Jan was one of the prettiest ladies I knew. As I have grown older, I still think that she is one of the most beautiful women I know, but I also now know that her beauty goes way beyond skin deep. I will remember Jan for her gentle smile, the twinkle that was always in her eyes, and her beautiful laugh. She was always willing to help in whatever way she could... providing the cup of sugar we needed, or for those "not so little to us then" little emergencies if Mom and Dad were not around. She was always up for some "girl chat", a water fight on a hot day, sharing recipes and cross-stitch patterns. I will remember the days when we were young - we would find her sitting on the deck with her knitting, and she would chuckle that she was catching a one-sided tan! I will always be thankful to her for helping me shop for my first interview suit when I was right out of college - I did not want the typical blue interview suit, and needed someone that I KNEW had fashion sense to say the gray tweed suit would work! Her home is as lovely and comfortable to be in as she and her family are to be with. As young kids we knew we could ALWAYS knock on the door, and now as an adult, I still try and run over for a quick visit when I am back home in Iowa. I also keep their phone number handy "just in case"... My heart is heavy for all of us who have lost her presence here on earth. I so wish I could be with all of you in person this weekend, but I cannot. Chuck and Tom, family and friends - please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers in this time of such loss. May our fond memories of our years with Jan provide comfort in the difficult days ahead. All my love, Pam

To Mr. Polansky & Family: I have known "Charlie' from the old bingo hall on First Avenue, and I remember attending the services at Cedar Memorial for their loss back then... I feel the sorrow for your loss; it is always hard. What makes it seem easier are having friends and family near, even if they can not be there physically. The losses I've had in my own life were hard, but the spirituality gained by the comfort of friends and family made the hurt less. In looking back and remembering this family; I remember the good man in the blue uniform that greeted everyone with a smile and made bingo fun. I remember the multitudes of people in their previous loss. And I remember shaking the hands of this family then and how I was welcomed. And at this time, I want to return that good feeling "Charlie" gave me and my late mother. God Bless You Charlie And Your Whole Family During Your Time Of Bereavement..."

We both send our thoughts and prayers. Just remeber the beautiful place Jan has gone home to. We remember the good times together at the reunions and the breakfast here at Coco's in Phoenix. As time heals and memories are shared, your family and friends are there for you.

Chuck, Tom, and family In extending my sympathy to you this brings to mind Jan's such lovely feminine lived qualities of caring, hospitality, generosity, and compassion for all. She, along with these gifts given me, will live long in my heart. My thoughts are with each of you.

I have so many wonderful memories of Jan. Our trips to the mall of America and our many Carlos O'Kellys nights out. I will always remember her laughing and loving life. She always would brighten up my day. She was kind and generous and one of my favorite people. I am truly blessed to have had her in my life the past 10 years. She will always have a special place in my heart. Tom, she was so proud of you and the wonderful man you grew up to be. You were her knight in shining armor. I have lost one of my best friends and want you to know I am thinking of you both with Love and Prayers.

I first met Jan 10 years ago when I was a Courier for MercyCare clinics. The Marion clinic was always my favorite clinic due to the kind people, particulary Jan. She always offered a smile, a Hello and took time out of her busy day to chat a couple minutes. If I was having a bad day, she would tell me to hang in there. I didn't know her that well at the time, but just those few simple minutes out of the day sure meant a lot to me. I always thought, what a wonderful woman. A few years later I came to work at MercyCare Marion full time. It was at that time I came to discover how genuinely kind and wonderful spirit Jan really was. She really did touch not only my life, but so many others around her. My co-workers and I will miss her, but our memories of our dear friend Jan will go on forever.

Dear chuck, I was very sorry to hear of Janelle's passing. I haven't seen either of you since 1975 or 76. I will remember sitting in your kitchen, and she gave me a taste of her ice cream dessert that she said was fast to make for when company came. She gave me the receipe and I still have it. She was always the most wonderful person, I know you will all miss her, but know that she touched many people in so many ways. Our prayers are with all of you.

I knew Janey through her family. My husband, Rodney, is her nephew. I heard the stories for years how wonderful, kind, generous and loving Janey was. I spent time with her and knew exactly what they all meant when they spoke of her. She was truely a sincere and kind person. After her passing, I have witnessed first hand how she touched so many people and how much she will be missed by all. Janey will remain in our hearts and memories forever. We are all very lucky to have known her. What a wonderful family. Her brothers and sister are kind, loving people. My heart goes out to everyone of you. Lots of Love, Bonnie Zimmerman
