John VanAlst
We were blessed to have a neighbor like John. He was so caring and giving. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand or to share what little he had with others. I'll really miss John but I'll be reminded of him often over the summer months when I look at my rhubarb growing or the onions that he gave me to plant in my garden!

I have many fond memories from years ago of Uncle John. He and Aunt Fay are my dad's Larry Harris aunt and uncle. I can remember as a young girl, the many weekends they would spend snowmobiling and playing cards. I will always remember him as a kind, pleasant, giving and humorous man. Rest in peace, Uncle John.

John was a great friend and neighbor when we lived in Robins. He lived in the house behind ours. We had bought the old Coonrod place and built a new house on that lot. John worked countless hours helping clear the trees and tearing down the old house. There are so many memories I could share. We all loved him. God bless.

My heart is sad and heavy by the lost. I will miss seeing a light in his house on a dark quiet evening. I will miss a great friend and neighbor. If I didn't get my grass cut, I was sure to find John had made some trips across my yard to make sure the grass length was proper only to say later that "He didn't see who cut the grass". John watched over my house and cat, Eli when I was away on travel. Eli will miss the many visits from a tender dear friend and a soft heart who made sure he had fresh water, food to eat, and a slow walk around the yard.

My heart is very sadden and heartfelt that I have lost a very special friend. John has chosen another journey in his life. And as John would say Don't be sad, I am free now and in a better place. I will miss his smiling face and seeing him out in his chair near his garage. John has and is a very good friend to both Ron Neyens and I. John will be deeply missed and cherished in my heart.

The news about John's passing is very sad. My heart goes out to all of his family, friends and those who were close to him. I am originally from Robins and John lived in the house behind mine. I remember when I was growing up, him and Ann would watch me every day before school. Those were some fun times! He was always making jokes and laughing, he was a very humble person. Now that I'm all grown up, I can still say that those times were some of the best memories I have. I will never forget how much kindness he showed me and my whole family. He will be greatly missed.
