Georgia Beck Lage, 82, of the Meth-Wick Community died Friday, April 18, 2008 of complications of Alzheimer's. Services are private. The Rev. Paul Monska of the Meth-Wick Community will officiate. Cedar Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Georgia is survived by her two daughters, Ann Jim O'Keefe of St. Charles, IL and Beth Washler fiancé Charles Pelic of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Jim O'Keefe Jennifer of Chicago, IL; two granddaughters, Sarah and Molly Washler of Cedar Rapids; and a great granddaughter, Tessa O'Keefe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Irwin; and a sister, Louise Stodieck Kruger.
Georgia was born October 4, 1925 in Lebanon, Missouri the daughter of Ernst and Frieda Buehler Beck. She married Irwin "Irv" Lage on June 16, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri. Irwin and Georgia resided in Cedar Rapids for 25 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids Women's Club, Pharmacy Wives, P.E.O., and Elmcrest Country Club. Georgia was a fashion model in Cedar Rapids and in Sun City, Arizona. She volunteered at St. Luke's Hospital, loved knitting, flower arranging and travel.
When Irwin retired, they moved to Sun City, Arizona but returned to Cedar Rapids in 2000 to became a part of the Meth-Wick Community. In her final years, Georgia was a gentle soul who loved babies, stuffed animals and music. She had a smile for everyone.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Meth-Wick Community and to Amenity Hospice for the loving care and support of Irv and Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
