Mary Louise Zamastil, 88, a resident of Northbrook Manor died Friday March 21, 2008 in the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy following a brief illness. Funeral mass: 10:30 a.m Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church by the Rev. John Gossman. Visitation will be Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. where a Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. Inurnment: Private.
Survivors include her children: Kathy Zamastil of Cedar Rapids, Jean Frank Navratil of University Heights, Ohio, Janet Gene Maloney of Marion, and Steve Mary Zamastil of Davis Junction, Illinois, her grandchildren, Lisa Derek Navracruz, F. Joseph Debra Navratil, Michael Navratil, Tina Sean Healy, Brian Chris Maloney, Andrew Mary Beth Maloney, Kim Zamastil, Christine Zamastil and Charles Zamastil, 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Patricia John Furman of Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Her husband Donald R. Zamastil and parents preceded her in death.
Mary was born December 15, 1919 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Robert and Anne Gilchrist. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and attended Mount Mercy College. On April 6, 1942 she married Donald R. Zamastil at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was a bookkeeper for Lattner Manufacturing. She was a member of St. Anthony Study Group and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was an avid golfer and a former city amateur champ. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
