Alice Jane Duffe, 72, of rural Lincoln, Missouri, formerly Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Bothwell Regional Health Center, Sedalia, Missouri after a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel by Rev. Bill Harnish. Burial: Fairfax Cemetery, Fairfax. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin; two daughters, Pamela Wachal of Quasqueton, and Denise Scott Bellmer of Cedar Rapids; one step-daughter, Rhea Kay Steve Feathers of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one step-son, Kenneth Joy Duffe of Las Vegas, Nevada; four brothers, John Jean Mitchell and Alvin Rose Mitchell, all of Iowa, Dale Angie Mitchell of Missouri, and Larry Mitchell of Illinois; six grandchildren, Hans and Chase Wachal and Carleigh Bellmer, all of Cedar Rapids, Easton Wachal of Cedar Falls, and Noah and Hannah Feathers of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; one great-grandson, Tyler Mangrich of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Pearl Mitchell, one sister, Irene Boxwell, and two brothers, Richard Mitchell and Paul Mitchell.
She was born on August 27, 1935, in Atkins, Iowa, to Andrew and Pearl J. Abrahamson Mitchell. She was united in marriage to Melvin L. Duffe, on January 2, 1981, in Cedar Rapids. For about 7 years, she worked in the food service department at St. Luke's Hospital. After her marriage in 1981, she moved to Cole Camp, Missouri. For the past ten years, she worked as a door greeter at Wal-Mart in Sedalia, Missouri. She enjoyed making crafts out of wood and fur, going to craft shows, and spending time with her family.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.
