I will miss her smile and friendly hello. When my parents were alive, she always asked how they were, which touched my heart. Your friend and neighbor, and former salad girl, Renee Corkery

Mary Ellen was a very caring person. She gave me a job early in life and kinda took me under her wing. I worked for her and became a neighbor. Once a friend of hers, then you stayed a friend and she never forgot anything or anyone. The family is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you learn how much she meant to so many. Vince and family ... we share your grief with the loss of Mary Ellen..! I don't think I have ever met anyone with her drive and such a desire for life..! What a lady, classy and funny and ... one heck of a worker..! Have not seen her for probably 2-3 years as we don't get back to town that often, but always stay at the Longbranch..! Cherish the memories of this wonderful lady ... who did indeed love animals ... we had many chats about that subject many times. Sincerely, Bill & Rhonda Lambing Greenwood, IN Collins employee for 35 years.

I’m so sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you all during this sad time. Fate and difficult times led me to the Longbranch many years ago. I found a job I enjoyed and people I liked working with very much. Mary Ellen had a great work ethic and good sense of humor too. I have many warm memories of Mary Ellen and her family. Take comfort in knowing she is free of pain and at peace with the Lord. She has gone on ahead of you but she will always be with you in your hearts. Treasure your memories of her always. I will. Mary Ellen was my best friend's Jim mother when I was growing up and treated me as if I was another son in the family. I spent many weekends with the DeLong's from as early as I can remember until about 12 years old. God bless Mary Ellen and her family.

Vince and family, We extend our deepest condolences at your time of loss. Mary Ellen will always be remembered by us as a wonderful wife and mother who loved her family dearly. Her friendliness and cheerful manner always made a return visit to Iowa and Cedar Rapids something we eagerly anticipated. Although geography limited our visits in later years we always knew that she would eagerly welcome us. As a child, Mary Ellen was the wise, sophisticated cousin from the bigger city who would extend her warmth, kindness and wisdom to our family. Her love of the arts, intellectual interests and wisdom intrigued us, and her affinity for caring for family earned our great respect. She left a legacy of her interests, caring and love with her family and for all those who knew her. Deepest sympathies, Roger, Curt, Bridget, Alec, Erich and Max

To the Delong Family, Our Deepest Sympathies go out to you. My Dad Al Ullrich worked at the Longbranch many years ago. I remember coming in with him when I was a little girl and Mary Ellen would have them make me a Shirley Temple drink in a boot cup. I have fond memories of eating there and dancing with Dad on the dance floor. May God Bless you and your family. She is truly in a wonderful place. Sincerely, Mary and Yvonne Ullrich

Vince, Jim, Doug, Jeff, Bob and Families, We extend our deepest sympathies to you for your loss. Mary Ellen was our special cousin, so pretty, so talented, and oh so funny. She almost always was the one that came to mind when thoughts turned toward my Mother's side of the family. We are going to miss her. Even though we didn't see each very much and even talk all that often, it was nice to know she was there. I am so glad that I made the trip to Cedar Rapids to visit you, to see your Best Westerns and to spend special time at your 'woods/river' cabin. These are the kinds of memories I can keep close to my heart. God bless you all. We wish we could be with you tomorrow to share our memories. We will remember you in our prayers and we send our love.
