Dear Stephen, I never had the pleasure of meeting your father but I have had the honor of knowing you for quite some time now, since you first came to be with us in NY. I know that the essence of who you are and the man you have become makes your father's spirit beam with pride. Know that he is always with you, every step, being proud. Great children come from great parents, and he had to be an amazing man. Love Sabrina

I feel most people did not know the real Duane Arnold, Jr.. He was a very caring person with out a way to show it. He actually was an accomplished automobile driver while competing at Elkhart Lake Race Track without experience. He was a respectable golfer, but had trouble keeping score. He was very bright, without credentials. Duane fought a life long battle for recognition and respect without an audience. I considered him a friend. Godspeed Duane. Ron

To The Family and All Those Who Could Love Him... I was in a meeting at the Fellowship Club, celebrating two years at that time; as I spoke he listened to me... I felt as though I wasn't anybody and after the meeting; he came over and gave me a hug and said, "Welcome to the Fellowship, you're on your way." Tonight as I read the Gazette Online as I used to be a Cedar Rapidsidian myself ? - I wanted someone in his family to know; that yes, he had a heart that touched many lives through his kind words, and I shall reflect on that each time I visit my old hometown. Today, I have four years and seven months, maybe because someone gave me the ambition to go further. "Thank you my late friend, I know God and Jesus are pleased with your work . "

Colleen and Family A friend called this past weekend to tell us that Duane had passed away. We were both saddened. We recall all the good times we had together attending Iowa football games or watching the basketball team at the Final Four at your house. Although we haven't talked for a number of years we often thought of you and your family. May your love of God and the presence of good friends in your life at this time help bring peace. Duane was always fun to be with and will be missed. Cindy and Jim

Colleen & Family, I was sadden to hear of the passing of Duane. We were cadets together in the Honor Guard at Wentworth Military Academy. It seems like only yesterday, even though it has been nearly 38 years, since we saw each other. Duane, was always full of life, had a great sense of humor, & always one of the first to offer a word of encouragement or lend a hand to someone in need. I am sure that during his life he touched many lives. He was always a real encourager to me. Take care & may you each find peace in our loving God, & Father. Rick Hanke WMA Class of 70'
