Memorial

Naomi Ruth Flesher, 93, a long time resident of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008 at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 16, 2008 with visitation held one hour prior to the service, at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church. Pastor Paul Wilcox will officiate. Burial will be at the Urbana Cemetery immediately following the funeral. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home

Survivors include her daughter Nila Flesher of Escondido, CA; her son Neil Flesher of Littleton, CO; grandsons Jason Flesher of Escondido, CA and Ryan Flesher of Nashville, TN; granddaughter Lindsay Flesher of Boulder, CO; and great grandson Jordan Flesher of Escondido, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Naomi was born July 3, 1914 in Urbana Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Mina Cook. She attended school at Urbana and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College Now UNI with a degree in education. She taught for many years at Urbana and Shellsburg as well as small country schools. On October 28, 1939 she married Cache M. Flesher of Esparto, CA. They resided in Urbana from 1939 to 1962 when they moved to Cedar Rapids. Naomi was a member of the Lovely Lane United Methodist Church and the Vinton Club. She enjoyed spending time telling stories of her youth to her grandchildren, and reading. She fully enjoyed her family and learning about their lives, had a wonderful sense of humor, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of West Ridge Care Center for their support and kindness during her stay at West Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Naomi’s honor are made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
