Memorial

John J. Rink Sr., 67, of 3808 Sprucewood Ct. NE. died Sat. Dec. 15, 2007 at Health Park Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida after a long illness. Per John's request there will be no public service. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 1 to 5 PM on Saturday where there will be a time of sharing at 4:00 PM.
Survivors include his wife, Annette, two sons, John Jr. Mary and Dan Christi all of Cedar Rapids and a step-son, Jeff Marci Eckles of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Conor, William, Emma, Adam, Madilyn and Nathan. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Jeffrey and an infant son, Nathaniel.
John was born on Feb. 29, 1940 in Berwyn, Illinois, the son of Chester and Albie Taclik Rink. He graduated from Washington High School in 1958. He married Nancy Pearson in Cedar Falls.
They were later divorced. He married Annette M. Vollenweider on May 12, 1993 in Cedar Rapids. John was a supervisor at Quaker Oats for over 39 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the N.R.A., and the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed fishing, boating, trap shooting, spending time at the Cedar Valley Outfitters and gun shows. He especially enjoyed choir practice after work. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and beloved family.
