He was preceded in death by his mother Francis Bratten Ulmer.
Bill was born on February 11, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas, then spent his childhood years in Tempe, AZ, where he excelled in high school track and field, holding records for many years in discus and shot-put. He attended Arizona State University and was a member of the Track and Field Team. He graduated in 1969.
Bill married Samantha Channell on June 2, 1967 in Tempe, Arizona.
Bill enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, reading, teaching his Adult Sunday School Class, and spending time with his wife, children, and seven precious grandchildren. He was a wonderful example and role model of a loving father and grandfather. He was greatly loved by all of his family and will be missed more than words can express.
Bill's favorite scripture passage was Philippians 3:10-11 'I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.' This was his goal in life and his victory in death.
Memorial donations may be given to the Northbrook Baptist Church.
