Melvin V. "Mel" Tudor, 72, of 1067 74th St. NE, died Monday, December 10, 2007, in Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness. Services with military honors at 10:30 AM Friday in St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Osterhaus will officiate. Entombment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday with a wake service beginning at 6 PM.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years Shirley, four daughters, Debora Trumblee and husband Paul of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Diana Lubbock and husband Paul of Cedar Rapids, Brenda Keyes and husband Jeff, and Kathy Tudor and husband Mike Gelvin all of Princeton, Texas, four sisters Mary Lou Shimp of Dunkerton, Iowa, Laura Benzine of Princeton, Texas, Verna Miller of Waverly, Iowa, and Donna Knight of Las Vegas, Nevada, eight grandchildren, Rachel Eilers and husband Matt, Josh Trumblee, Megan Trumblee, Lindsay Trumblee, Ethan Trumblee, Jeromiah Wiley, Lance Corporal Jacob Wiley, and Kayla Gelvin, and three great-grandchildren, Jaxon Eilers, Izak Eilers, and Kaden Wiley. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Timothy, a brother Charles, and two sisters Betsy Gritton and Velma Tudor.

Mel was born January 5, 1935 in Manchester, Iowa to Ernest and Alice Scott Tudor. He married Shirley Helms on November 12, 1956 in Lamont, Iowa. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked in field services for Swiss Valley Farms from 1967 to 1997. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church and VFW Post # 788. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He never met a stranger. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Military honors by VFW Post No 788. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
