Courtland "Gary" Rawson, 56, of 4114 E Avenue NW, died at the Midwest Regional Medical Center, Zion, IL, Saturday, October 20, 2007, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church by the Rev. Tom Pietz Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery with military services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Dianna; five children, Sheri Todd Gralund, Brian Rawson, Kevin Denise Rawson, and Teri Chad Edmonds, all of Cedar Rapids, and Chris Amy Rawson of Atkins; three sisters, Sharon Darold Morris of Elbron, Bonnie Sasek of Marion, and Pam Bob Klima of Coggon; nine grandchildren, B.J., Cody, Bailey, Courtney, Alyssa, Caitlyn, Savannah, Hunter, and Calley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his dog, Jake.

Gary was born on August 3, 1951 in Cedar Rapids to Hugh and Alta Rawson. Gary married Dianna Johnson on December 19, 1970 in Covington. Gary was in the Marine Corps from 1970 to 1974. He worked at the Cedar Rapids Water Department for over 33 years. Gary liked to hunt, fish, listen to country music, watch westerns, and old movies and tell stories about events in his life. He was a wonderful husband, and an awesome dad and grandpa. He loved to spend time with the family. He was often found sitting on the floor in front of the couch watching TV with his grandkids. He was especially proud of his Koi pond. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
