Milton Lavern Ewing, 83, of 3000 J Street SW # 2204, went to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ on October 18, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital following complications of cancer. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday October 22, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Pastor Tony Gael will officiate. Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, and after 12:00 Noon on Monday at the Chapel of Memories. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include daughters Terese Svoboda and husband Dave of Killeen, TX, Stephanie French and husband Matthew of Cedar Rapids, and Wendy Schmitz and husband Roger of Cedar Rapids; a son Matthew Ewing and special friend Connie of Cedar Rapids; 5 step children; 8 grand children; 21 step grand children; 16 step great grandchildren; sister Marjorie Dagel and husband Roland of Tyler, TX; brothers Curtis Ewing and wife Louise of Knoxville, Iowa, and Jerry Ewing and wife Lois of Colorado. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family, and was lovingly care for by his step daughter Darlene Franck for the past 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine in 1987, his parents, and a sister Nina Sloatman.

Milton Lavern Ewing was born October 16, 1924 in Waukon, Iowa the beloved son of Jacob and Gladys Hastings Ewing. He married Eva Allman in 1954 and they later divorced. He married Geraldine Dennis on March 25, 1971 in Iowa City. He was employed from 1954 to 1986 at Wilson's Packing Company where he was commonly known to his co workers as "Daddy-O". His greatest joy in life was spending time with his loving family and his cat Buddy. He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
