Memorial

Jeannie Reid, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died October 1, 2007 in her home following an extended illness. Private Family Graveside services will be held at a later time. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2007 from 4 to 6 PM at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 50 years Virgil; daughters Luanne Reid of San Jose, California, and Vicki Seaboalt and husband Blaine of Nashville, TN; her brother Hilmi ?lker of Izmit, Turkey; her sister Sonia Belent and husband Emit of Istanbul, Turkey. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister in law Saliha ?lker.

Jeannie Reid was born December 12, 1936 in Soflu, Greece, of Turkish decent, to Salih and Elfide ?lker. At the young age of 5 she immigrated with her family back to Turkey where she spent the majority of her young life. She met Virgil Roy Reid while he was stationed for the United States Air Force. They were married on December 9, 1956 in Istanbul, Turkey. She immigrated to the United States with Virgil in 1958, and became a United States citizen in 1961, to which she was proud to call herself and American. She enjoyed playing golf and bowling, gardening, being with people, watching the Chicago Cubs, and above all her family. She will forever be remembered as a gourmet cook, and a person who never met a stranger. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her dearly.
