James W. Young, 75, 4430 Westchester Dr. NE died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 11:00 A.M. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Donald Klein will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 49 years, Tootie are four children, Jeff Young Tonya of Green Bay, WI, Jonathan Young of San Francisco, CA, Missy Young Perry Jack of Dellwood, MN and Martha Young Rome Erick of Savage, MN; eight grandchildren, Mitchell, Carly, Eddie, Tim, Greg, Elizabeth, Eli and Maya; a brother, Dennis Young Rene of Moline, IL; and two nieces, Whitney and Amanda.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
James was born February 13, 1932 in Waterloo the son of Wesley H. and Emma K. Lebeda Young. He married Mary M. Bahl on September 6, 1958 in Waterloo. James was the owner of Young Broadcasting Co, broadcasting Christian radio to eastern Iowa. He was a member of the Friday Morning Men's Group, loved golf, fishing and going to Canada to see all of the snowbirds. He loved his grandkids and would do anything for them. James wintered in Florida, loved God and you could tell that God loved him. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army.
