Kelly James Tharp, 47, of McAlister, Oklahoma formerly of Cedar Rapids died Sunday, September 9, 2007 at the Oklahoma State University Medical Center following a brief illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Friday from 10AM to 11AM. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Carver of the Shueyville United Methodist Church will officiate.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Penny and David Axline of Solon; his father, James Tharp of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; his grandmother,
Dorothy Boulcott of Morro Bay, CA; two sisters, Stacey Riccio of Dubuque and Jennifer Dennis of Cedar Rapids; a step-sister, Shelley Cervantes of Cedar
Rapids; a step-brother, Jeff Axline of Cedar Rapids; and a longtime companion, Gail Farrell of McAlister, OK.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather.
Kelly was born October 8, 1959 in Des Moines. He lived in Cedar Rapids the majority of his youth. He served in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Air Force. Kelly worked in construction and contracting in Oklahoma. He loved music, the guitar, his family and friends.
