Jeanne K. Zirbel, 72, of 2222 First Avenue NE, died Sunday, August 26, 2007, in her home after a short illness. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Grant Wood Chapel, 800 2nd Avenue SE, by the Rev. Dr. Herbert Isenberg of First Presbyterian Church.

Jeanne is survived by 2 sons, Stephen Patricia of Chicago, IL, and Jeffery Tracey and grandson Griffin of Des Moines, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jeanne was born on October 3, 1934 in Des Moines, the daughter of Eugene and Evelyn Knox. After attending public schools and a brief career with AT& T, she moved to Cedar Rapids in 1956, where she resided for the rest of her life.

Jeanne was active in a number of civic and cultural organizations including Junior League of Cedar Rapids, serving a term as president, the Cedar Rapids Garden Club and the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, serving as a volunteer manager of the gift shop. She was also a past member of the Cedar Rapids Country Club.

Jeanne was an articulate, well-read, supportive person to her sons and many friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art.
