Raymond J. Alatalo, 87, of Cedar Rapids died suddenly Friday, August 17, 2007 at Living Center East. Graveside Services: 11:30 A.M. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Tranquility. Friends may call on Sunday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 2PM to 5PM.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 67 years, Dorane are a son, Donald Alatalo Connie of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Cathy Welton Joey of Robins; six grandchildren, David, Richard, William, Brian, Brad and Leslie; and nine great grandchildren, Rich, Tom, John, Mark, Crystal, Cassondra, Dylan, Hudson and Greyson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Richard, two brothers, and three sisters.
Raymond was born June 30, 1920 in Frederick, South Dakota to John and Mamie Alatalo. He married Dorane Durkee on February 9, 1940 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Raymond farmed in Frederick, South Dakota until 1952 prior to working at Penick and Ford. He retired from Penick and Ford in 1978.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous.
