David Scott Nelson, 54, of Cedar Rapids, died June 9, 2007 in his home following a courageous battle with complications of diabetes. Funeral Services will be held 3 PM, Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Dr. William Pugliese will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Survivors include his numerous close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert C. and Bernice M. Nelson.

David Scott Nelson was born March 14, 1953 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the beloved son of Robert C. and Bernice M. Svoboda Nelson. He was a 1971 graduate of Cedar Rapids Washington High School. He graduated from Drake University in 1975 with a BA degree in political science. In 1978 he received his J.D. Degree from the University of San Diego, San Diego, CA. He was self-employed as a local attorney for 25 years. He was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, Elk's Club, El Kahir Shrine, Drake University Alumni Association, Christ Episcopal Church, and the YMCA. He was previously a member of the Coralville Investment Club. He enjoyed golf, politics, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a generous friend to many and will be greatly missed by those who's lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
