NAME: Carlton Arthur Turkington, Jr. , 84, of 426 32nd St NE, died Thursday April 26, 2007 in his home from a long illness. Services: Private. Friends may call on Cedar Memorial Funeral Home today from 4-7 p.m. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. William B. Harnish will officiate.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marion, his children, Dennis Lisa Turkington of Cedar Rapids, Patricia Jim Cannon of Cedar Rapids, Kathy Michael Bell of Center Point, Terry Gary Gerleman of Cedar Rapids and Sharon of Cedar Rapids, his siblings, Shirley DeNio of Rowley and a brother, Robert Betty Turkington of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
His parents and a brother, Jim Hendrick preceded him in death.
Carl was born November 15, 1922 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Carlton Turkington Sr. and Charlotte White Streb. He married Marion Stuefen on November 4, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa. Carl was a Truck Driver for construction. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and woodworking. He served in the Navy during World War II. The American Legion Hanford Post #5 will conduct military Rites.
