Hortense "Shorty" Wilson Nerison, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday April 9, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center from complications of a stroke. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, 1221 First Ave SW, and after 10:30 am at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories on Thursday. Cedar Memorial-Westside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Don Wilson and wife Judy of Cedar Rapids, three sisters, Uda Varney of Denver, Colorado, Earlene Riley of Oak Hill, Kansas and Irene Beals of Washington State. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Theresa Hunt and husband Jim of Camdenton, Missouri, Linda Adney of Cedar Rapids, Dan Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jodi Burke and husband Bob of Cedar Rapids, seven great grandchildren, Byron, Jeremy, and Kristen Hunt, Paris, Elijah and Danielle Adney and Brian Burke, and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Ernest Nerison and parents preceded her in death.
"Shorty" was bornApril 1, 1919 in Delphos, Kansas. She married Ernest C. Nerison in Iowa City. She was employed at Wilson's Food for 33 years. "Shorty" and Ernie loved to travel and spent many summers at their cabin on the Cedar River. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
