Memorial

Myrtle L. Yardley, 90, of the Winslow House Care Center died there on Monday March 26, 2007 after an extended illness. Services at 11 AM on Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Kay Slocum will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Wed.
Survivors include a son, Richard Wood and his wife, Dorothy, and a stepson, Kenneth Yardley both of Cedar Rapids, two sisters, Betty Abernathy and her husband, Robert of Cedar Rapids and Darlene Kerr of Coggon. She is also survived by three step-grandchildren, Cindy Kevin First, Brian Amy Yardley and Diana Andrew Forman and 4 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Charles, Russell, Robert and Donald Moss and a sister, Ellen Comreid.
Myrtle was born on April 3, 1916 in Anamosa, the daughter of Charles and Olive Miner Moss. She married Earl Wood in April of 1933. He died in 1964. She then married Lorm D. Yardley on May 12, 1967 in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2000. Myrtle worked at Collins Radio as an assembler and retired from there after 24 years of service. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. A memorial fund has been established in Myrtle's name.
