Alan E. Norris, 65, 1021 C Ave NW died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at his home following a lengthy illness. Services: 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4PM to 8PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick Gail of First Assembly of God will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife Jackie are a son, Scott Norris Melinda of Manchester, NY; two daughters, Kristen Norris-Zimny Ron of Geneva, IL and Nicole Norris of Tiffin; his mother, Christine Norris of Estherville; a foster daughter, Becky Brown-Hastings Mike of Topeka, KS; a sister, Caroljean Lundgren of Wallingford; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; and a grandson, Jason.
Alan was born November 24, 1940 in Estherville the son of Albert and Christine Rolfson Norris. He married Jackie Gluesing on September 5, 1965 in Van Horne. Alan was owner and operator of a barber shop from 1967 to 1973, was a district manager for Forney Welders from 1973 to 1980, was the manager at Theisen's from 1980 to 1991 and was owner and operator for Mailboxes and Parcel Depot in Cedar Rapids from 1991 until his retirement in 2002. Alan was an Iowa Hawkeye fan and raised strawberrys in his strawberry patch. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from 1960 to 1963.
