Dr. Jacobs was one of the finest, kindest and most caring of people that anyone could ever want to know. As a Doctor he was without peer. I can honstly say that he saved my life, not once but several times, twice in Mason City and once in Cedar Rapids. I probably wouldn't be alive today but for his care. He was our family Doctor for many years. He delivered all four of our children, two in Mason City and two in Cedar Rapids. The world has lost a very great man. I will truly miss him.

Dear Jacobs Family, Some of my fondest memories from grade school and high school are from the times that you welcomed me into your family. From Football, to Madrigal, to the trips to Notre Dame, cubs games and your condo in Colorado, so many smiles come flooding back to me. Your Dad was the one that introduced me to both the birds and the bees and really bad puns. Along with my parents, your Mom and Dad and your family are a high standard of parenthood, marriage and family that I aspire to. God Bless, Doug, Karen, Joe, Tom and Katie Sullivan

Dr. Jacobs served us and our three sons as our family doctor for 27 years. He delivered our son John in 1966. Our son thought so much of Dr. Jacobs that he invited him to his high school post-graduation party, and was thrilled that Dr. Jacobs atended this memorable event. When our son Jerry moved back to Cedar Rapids from out east, he became seriously ill. We came back to Cedar Rapids to be with him. During this period, Dr. Jacobs provided care and personally assisted in getting specialists to attend to him. It was so comforting for us and Jerry to have him to talk to. He was more than a great doctor; he was also a wonderful family friend.

I wish to express my condolences to you on the passing of your husband and father. Dr. Jacobs was truly a friend to the student-athletes of La Salle. I remember coming off the football field at Kingston Stadium and there he was checking for injuries and ALWAYS giving encouragement. It is just amazing he continued this for 25+ years. I hope fond memories like this will help you through these difficult times. Sincerely,Mark Kluber

Working as a nurse for many years at both St Lukes and Mercy Medical Center, I was fortunate to know Dr. Jacobs as an excellent physician and more importantly, as an extremely kind man. My sympathy to his entire family. I am thankful that he was in my life. Mary Jane McWilliams

What a wonderful person he was, and he indeed had a great sense of humor. Even after not having seen him for several years, he asked me if I still had my kitty that had been up a tree for 38 days, I had to go on Xanax because of the worry. I know that just because we no longer see him, that doesn't mean he will not be watching over those that he loved so very, very dearly. He always had a fine story to tell about your most recent vacation to see one of the kids. God bless you all, as He did when giving you all such a special family. Pat Ogden and her Mom, Skip Donohoe

I wish to express by sincere sympathy in the loss of your husband & father. He was a fine gentleman and a wonderful physician. I was one of his first patients on 3rd Ave SW and remained with him until his retirement. My family and I are so lucky to have had him for all of those years, to care for every illness and injury that an active family of 6 endures. He delivered both of the girls. Kim had several illnesses between the ages of 2 and 4. She loved her "Dr. Jake" and would run and jump up into his arms whenever she would see him, and he would hold her. Memories of him will remain with us forever and I thank you for sharing him with us.

Dearest Family of Dr. Jacobs, I too was a patient at the 3rd Ave. S.W. address, and was fortunate to be with the office for around 20 years. Just before Christmas 1968 Dr. Jacobs filled in for Dr. Schmit and gave up his Sunday morning to come be with me to deliver our son Ronald Ronnie. A beautiful special gift from God that year! Thank you so much for sharing this precious Godly man that day and many others. His life was a beautiful reflection of Christ Jesus. Most especially his lovingkindness in helping others. May our Lord surround you all with love, peace, comfort and joyful memories. Love, Prayers, and Blessings, Joanie Chapman <>< Psalm 23, Psalm 61, Isaiah 61:1-3

We have extremely fond memories of Dr. Jacobs' compassionate, competent care. When our then 5 year old daughter, Amy, was diagnosed with Wilms tumor in 1986 and had to endure 10 months of chemotherapy, Dr. Jacobs was always supportive, caring and encouraging. We extend our heart-felt sympathies.

Marion, just seeing the picture of my wonderful father-in-law brings fresh tears to my eyes. I am so sad we are no longer blessed with John's smile, wit, enthusiasm, and generous, loving spirit. We miss him terribly and pray for God to comfort you. I am so lucky to be part of your family. All my love, Kristen
