As I remember Ted, I can't help but think of the afternoons I came home from work to see Ted sitting in his lawn chair on his driveway. I would get out of my car and before I could wave, Ted would say: "You are behind, Dave." he meant that he had just mowed his lawn and I was behind him. I would answer, that I would be doing it soon and he would then be behind. Well Ted, we are all behind you now and know that you are with your God on a greener lawn looking down on us. You were a wonderful neighbor and friend. dave and therese

Ted will be remembered for his big smile and his big heart. He has definitely touched everyone in our family with his kindness and wit. Grandpa Ted as our girls called him during softball season was the #1 fan for everyone on the team. He will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to you and your families.

Dear Donna & Girls, Please know how blessed you were to have Ted as your loving husband and father. I am blessed to have Ted as a special friend to my parents and to me. If it hadn't been for his persistence with Joyce in our driveway when I was seven or eight, I would never had learned to swim with the big kids. Ted took the girls and me to Ellis pool one Sunday afternoon and Joyce was totally opposed to the idea. She only let me go because she trusted him. I am also grateful that Ted insisted I learn to play wiffel-ball and hit the ball with that big red plastic bat at our annual holiday breakfasts at Ellis Park each Memorial Day, July 4 holiday and Labor Day. I am truly sorry for your loss and please know he will be missed by everyone that knew him. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday but wish it were under different circumstances. Greg regrets that he can not come to Cedar Rapids but sends his love as he too was blessed with knowing such a kind and giving man. Let's all toast to our special friend Ted. Love, Jill

Donna & Family, I think all of you know Ted was like a father to me. From the first day I went to work at Universal he tried to make salesman out of me. He not only taught me about crushers and their application, but I learned alot about handling people and their needs. Once Ted sold someone a product he became a friend and partner in their business. Ted would get so emotional, even at occasions when it did not seem to warrant strong emotions. I believe that is because he deeply cared about people and treasured their friendship and love. That is why he would organize a party at the drop of a hat.....he loved people and just wanted them to enjoy life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Steve Walker

We were so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Ted. What a great man he was. We enjoyed so much the time we spent with both Ted & Donna. Eating out with them, the Shafer's and the Roberts. He and Donna were the greatest neighbors and we have missed them. They were so generous with their parties and humble to everyone. They are two of the nicest people we have ever known. It just doesn't seem fair, but Ted is certainly in a special place and knows he his loved by many. We wish him peace with the Lord and God bless his family abundantly. Our thoughts are with Donna, Vickie, Karen and Julie and their families. With our Love, Bob & Olivia

Vicki/Greg/Lauren/Thad & relatives As I read the obit tonight and prepare to go to the visitation, I reflect back on the many good memories I have of Ted through JHS softball. Ted was always there rooting for everyone. I especially enjoyed getting to know him and Donna more personally as we shared rides to several tournaments and shared many stories among the way. He was definitely one of my favorite "softball" dads/grand-dads. I will sorely miss him at the games this summer but know that he lived a very happy, productive life. I am blessed for having known him. Guy sends his best wishes as he is out of town this week on business. Ted was very instrumental in helping Guy spearhead the renovation project last year and Guy enjoyed him immensely.

Donna & Family, our prayers & thoughts are with you with the loss of Ted. Ted has been a personal as well as business friend of ours for many years. Besides his wonderful personality and appreciation of everyone he met, his knowledge and respect in rock crushing was industry wide. Everyone, as well as ABCO Engineering, liked Ted. God Bless you all, Bob, Virginia and all of us at ABCO.

I work for Cummins Central Power in Des Moines. Every year we have a hospitality room at the ILPA Convention. For many years Ted has been my favorite visitor to our hospitality room. I always looked forward to seeing him each year. He always had the best smile and really enjoyed our Irish coffee. He will be missed.
