Memorial
Michelle Renee Pinkston, 22, of Cedar Rapids, died May 5, 2006 as a result of an auto accident. Celebration of Life services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at New Covenant Bible Church. Pastors Bob Westfall, Mark Forstrom, and Kim Pagel will officiate. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 at New Covenant Bible Church. The casket will be closed at all times. There will be a private family interment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include her parents Larry and Renee Pinkston of Cedar Rapids; two brothers David Pinkston of Cedar Rapids, and Matthew Pinkston of Iowa City; two grandmothers Evelyn Pinkston of De Kalb, IL, and Katherine Redlich of Milwaukee, WI. She is also survived by her aunt Jessie Pinkston of De Kalb, IL, as well as extended family members and many special friends.
Michelle was preceded in death by grandfathers W. Bert Pinkston, and Leonard Redlich; and an uncle Ronald Redlich.
Michelle was born November 28, 1983 the beloved daughter of Larry and Renee Redlich Pinkston. She was a graduate of Kennedy High School in 2002. During high school she was involved in Cheerleading, Color Guard, Track, Cross Country, National Honor Society, New Covenant Youth Group, New Covenant Drama Team and National Council on Youth Leadership. She received the Fine Arts award and was elected to prom and homecoming courts her senior year. She attended and graduated from Iowa State University. She was a member of New Covenant Bible Church, American Institute of Graphic Arts, Iowa State Student Government, and Salt Company Christian Fellowship. She was elected Dorm President her sophomore year. She received the Cardinal Key Leadership Award that recognizes the top .05 percent of graduating seniors at Iowa State.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to New Covenant Bible Church for artwork in their new facility.
Michelle was a dear and loving young woman who had a gift of finding the best in everyone she met. She had a great talent of artistic expression that she shared unselfishly with those around her. She had a close relationship with her Lord and Savior. She is now in his presence.
