Gene E. Quandt, 65, of 2938 Oakland Rd NE died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center after a sudden illness. Services at 9 AM on Friday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. Ken Glandorf will officiate. Entombment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery where there will also be military rites. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca, a son, Patrick and his wife, Brenda of Coggon, a daughter, Pam Caldwell of Laurens, six brothers, David of Lino Lakes, MN., Gary, Robert and Herbert all of Denison, Richard of Sioux City, Steven of Garden City, Kan. and a sister, Christine Blum of Denison. Also survived by two grandchildren.
Gene was born on Aug. 13, 1936 in Denison and graduated from High School there. He was the son of Herbert and Ann Martens Quandt. He married Rebecca S. Elam on Sept. 4, 1981 in Marion. Gene was an electrician for forty years and worked at Nelson Electric. He was a member of IBEW Local 405, was on the board of directors of the Iowa O.H.V., president of the Dirt Surfers A.T.V. Club for 9 years and served in the Air Force. Gene was a kind and wonderful person. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A memorial fund has been established in Gene's name. Military rites by American Legion Hanford Post No. 5.
