Betty Jean Viers, 63, of 1006 12th Street NE, died Monday, April 17, 2006, in Mercy Medical Center from Cancer. Services will be held at 1 PM Friday in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Rev. William Harnish will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from to 5 to 8 PM on Thursday and at the chapel after 12:30 PM on Friday .
Survivors include a son Steven Viers Jr. and wife Debbie of Cedar Rapids, two sisters Margaret Handsaker of Colo, Iowa, and Marylou Prusha of Toledo, Iowa, a brother Charles Herink of Waterloo, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters Violet Dungy, Marie Benda, Dorothy Colvert, and Darlene Handsaker, and two brothers Joe and Donald Herink.
Betty was born April 15, 1943, on a farm rural Clutier, Iowa. She married Steven L. Viers on December 19, 1959 in Toledo, Iowa. He died August 12, 2003. She was a homemaker and worked for Merry Maids for nine years. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, picnicking, and her cats.
