To Donalds family and relatives, my condolences, Iknow you will miss him a lot, enjoy the good memories. I knew Donald from the 1940's at Newhall, and visited with him a few years ago at Randalls grocery. Went to school at Newall with Tom, ask him, he can explain. The Lord comfort you. Art Taschner.

Dan, David and Darrell and families, I was so saddened and surprised to hear that Uncle Don had passed away. He was and always will be my favorite Uncle. I'll always treasure the memories of our Sunday's in Newhall as kids. What I think I'll remember most is his laughter and smile and the home video's of the 4th of July picnic and Uncle Don dancing a little jig while holding sparklers. Take care of each other and remember the good times to help you get through the sad times. My thoughts and prayers are with you, God Bless

I would like to express my sympathy to the Don Van Woert family. I worked with Don in the late seventys & early eightys at the J Ave. Water plant on shift. Don was a good and decent man. One thing that stands out in my mind back then is lunch time. Don and I would eat together. Alice would always fix Don a big plate of food, "good stuff" NO BOLONEY sandwich for Don! and he never gained a ounce!! And he always shared his home made cookies with his fellow employees.

To my favorite cousins, Dan, David and Darrell. I am so sorry and saddened about the loss of your dad. I am glad though, that in the last year I got to spend some time with Uncle Don and that I was able to tell him how much he and Alice had meant to me. They were always so kind to me. When I was a little girl I used to wish that I could go and live with your family. There are so many happy memories of Newhall that I will never forget. Simple things like playing "kick the can", ringing the school house bell, playing in the city park, picnics in Grandma's backyard, cherry jello with bananas, finding square headed nails in that old black smith's shop on the alley, and of course Thanksgivings and Christmas Eves. Sundays at Grandma's were always so much more fun when you guys were there. When I think of your dad I think of Newhall, the 4th of July, Dean Martin, Lawrence Welk, and Oh Henry candy bars. Take care guys, my thoughts and prayers are with you, love Cathy.

Dan, David, Darrell and families: I am so sorry for the loss of your father and my uncle. I have been thinking that Don and Alice are together again just in time for Valentines day. I have such fond memories of Sunday's and holidays spent at Newhall at Grandma Van Woert's house. Carol already said this, but when I think of Don I think of him holding his can of beer above his head and dancing a jig when we would watch my dad's home movies. Also walking over to Grovert's to look at the cars. Oh, and flying kites every March in the schoolyard. My prayers and thoughts are with your families.

We were very sorry to hear about Mr Van Woert. We enjoyed him coming to our church services at Crestview. We will miss him very much. We are sorry that we could not make it the services as I was very sick at the time. Our prayers are with you all.

I knew your dad from the care center. I was one of the house keepers. He was a great guy. I miss him early. Thanks for sharing your dad in my life. He was an awsome man.
