Memorial

Harold O. Olson, 91, our beloved Dad, Grandpa, and Father in Law, passed away on January 7, 2006, at home in Woodinville, Washington, with family at his side.
A Family and Friends gathering will be held on Friday, January 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, and service with military honors Saturday, January 14th, 11:00 AM, in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Rev. Alfred Kaupins of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids will preside.
Harold, a long time resident of Cedar Rapids from 1946 to 1963, was a member of St Marks Lutheran Church. He also lived in Richardson, Texas and Wheat Ridge, Colorado before moving to Woodinville, Washington to reside with his daughter and family.
Born October 18, 1914 in Clarinda, Iowa, Harold was the son of John and Hilda Olson. He graduated from The University of Nebraska with a degree in Electrical Engineering and later honorably served his country during World War II in the Pacific as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. Following the war, he enjoyed a distinguished career as a broadcast sales engineer with Collins Radio for more than 30 years before retiring in 1977.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and by two wives, Helen Hovey Olson and Dorothy Hovey Olson. He is survived by his daughter Kathy Parker, son in law Jim Parker, grandson Christopher Parker, all of Woodinville, Washington, granddaughter Johanna Parker, and her husband, JP d'Andrimont, of Lakewood, Colorado, brother in law, Richard J. Hovey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Harold was involved in many church activities, including a tape ministry where he delivered worship service recordings for many years to shut in members. He loved gardening, nature, home projects, and keeping up with current events. He adored his family and will be greatly missed!
