Carolyn (Joan) Meek, a woman of unwavering faith and boundless love, passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on November 30th, 1939, in Clarinda, Iowa, Joan's life was a testament to the profound impact of family, faith, and friendship.

In 1959, Joan embarked on a journey of love and companionship, marrying James (Jim) Thacker. Together, they raised two remarkable daughters, Terri and Cindy, instilling in them the values of love, kindness, and resilience. After the loss of her beloved husband Jim, Joan found love again with Bill Meek, and their union was marked by countless cherished memories and shared adventures.

A woman of immense love and devotion, Joan's greatest joy was found in her family. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding solace and fulfillment in their laughter and embrace. Her home was a sanctuary of love and warmth, where every cherished pet, including Roxie and Herky, found a place in her heart.

Joan's green thumb and vibrant spirit illuminated her surroundings. An avid gardener, she nurtured blooms of beauty and cultivated friendships wherever she went. Her infectious laughter and genuine kindness endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Joan is survived by her three brothers, Lonnie (Charlotte) Jones, Donnie Jones, and Craig (Judy) Gibbons; her cherished daughters, Terri Schiller and Cindy Nykky; beloved stepchildren, Doug (Patty) Meek, Rick (Cindy) Meek, Rod (Krystie) Meek, and Cindy Lee (Eric) Ellsbury; grandchildren, Paige (Andrew) Pesko, Hailee Schiller, Denise (Greg) Albert, Corrie Schiller, James Nykky, Dalton Nykky, Caitlyn Nykky, Heather (Mike) Graewe, Kris Meek, Luke (Dre) Meek, Sam Meek, Jessie(Ryan) Meek, Amanda (Charles) Bergmann, Billy (Danielle) Meek, Jon (Kala) Meek, Robert Short, Connor Ellsbury, Collin Ellsbury, Emma Ellsbury, many (many), incredible great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lena Jones and Emeryl Griffey; first husband, James Thacker; second husband, Bill Meek; brother, Ronnie Jones; stepchildren, Diane (Jim) Short-Meek, and her beloved pets, Roxie and Herky.

Joan's legacy of love, generosity, and compassion will forever illuminate the lives of those she touched. In her memory, may we find solace in the beauty of her life and the love she shared so freely. Rest peacefully, dear Joan, your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
