Andrew “Andy” James Becker, 46, of Cedar Rapids, peacefully passed away at home on September 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, following a five-year battle with the effects of COVID-19 and, ultimately, brain cancer. 

Andy came into this world with a bang on January 1, 1980, making headlines as the first baby of the New Year born within a 100-mile radius! From the moment he arrived, Andy brought a radiant light into the world. While he happened to have Down Syndrome, it was simply part of what Andy who he was. Through the way he lived, he taught so many to appreciate life’s simple moments and to love without judgement or limits.

Andy proudly graduated from Washington High School in 2001 and worked 10 years at Options of Linn County. He spent seven years living at Linnhaven before returning to home. A natural entertainer, Andy loved playing his keyboard for a crowd, hosting parties for friends, and throwing his annual “Andy Day” celebration for family at their Holiday Lake home.

As Andy Grew older, he found joy in a quieter life, enjoying the comforts of home and those he loved most, especially his mom. His favorites included Santa Claus all year long, Culver’s, chicken legs, chocolate chip cookies, Disney, Where’s Waldo, LEGOs, and his treasured collections of books, movies, and music.

Andy will be deeply missed by his devoted mother, Suzanne Revers of Cedar Rapids; sister, Janaha (Mitch) Cook of Ely, Iowa, brother, Dawson (Rhiannan) Revers of Anchorage, Alaska; nieces, Aubrianna and Scarlet Cook; his cherished grandparents, Duane K. and Charlotte Holst of Keystone, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Cindy (Mike) Kelley of St. Louis, Missouri, Angie (Steve) Hagan of Keystone, and Diana (Bill) Buscher of Fairfax; cousins, Haley Schulte, Anber (Tanner) Dielschneider, Karly (Andrew) Reilly, Alana Hagen, Zach Buscher, Ethan Buscher, Sierra Buscher, and Tim Kelley. 

He also leaved behind his best buddy and housemate of 14 years, Mason Hamann, with whom Andy shared a special and treasured friendship.

Andy had the rare blessing of being part of five generations, knowing and being deeply loved by his grandparents, great-grandparents, and great-great grandparent. Extended family and those who held him dear from afar also remember him with much affection.

Andy’s family is deeply grateful to his dedicated caregivers for their years of love, compassion, and friendship. You became part of Andy’s family, and your kindness will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Radiant Church, 3233 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 9:00 -11:00 A.M. followed by the Celebration of Life at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, guests are invited to bring a small Christmas ornament, new of gently used, to place on an “Andy Tree” at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the “Andy Day” Human Services Scholarship at Kirkwood Community College, The Arc, of Camp Courageous.

Andy fulfilled God’s purpose, touched countless hearts, and made this world a better place. We rejoice in knowing he is now home with Jesus – whole, healed, and surrounded by everlasting love. 

Until we meet again, may every day carry a little bit of “Andy Day.”
