Memorial

John C. Moore, Jr., 82, passed away May 6, 2026. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, until the memorial service at 11 a.m., at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. 
 
John is survived by his wife, Diane; sister, Joyce (Paula Jantz) Moore; children, Todd (Cara) Moore, Timothy 
Moore, Chrystal (Bruce) Alcorn and Jason (Heather) Moore; grandchildren, Heather Moore, Gretchen Moore, 
Makenzie (Jennifer) McMullen, Bethany Moore-Guers (Andrew Guers), Ericka (Calvin) Korns, Spencer Moore 
(Lindsay Atherton), Jack (Alexis) Moore, Emerson Moore, Benjamin Moore, Dawson Moore and Olivia 
Moore; several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kathryn Moore; daughter, Kelly Laton; daughter-in-law, Angella Moore; and sister, Judy Barta.  
 
John is a 1963 graduate of Washington High School.  He was a long-time employee of Ar-Jay, Sunderland 
Brothers, and other industries, John and Diane enjoyed many pursuits together.  They attended University of 
Iowa women's basketball games for forty years.  They were inducted into the Jefferson High School Hall of Fame for their volunteer work in the concession stand.  In their later years, they acted for several years with the western group The Hole in the Sock Gang.  John’s character was Marshal Cactus Jack.  He also had a love for go-karting.
