Memorial

Evangeline “Vange” Claude passed away on May 26, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Solon. A Memorial Visitation will be held 9:00 am to 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.  A Graveside Service will follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was born on March 4, 1930, in Cedar Rapids to James and Blanche (Lee) Chukas. Vange was a lifelong member of Eden United Church of Christ, where she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Evangeline loved following the Iowa Hawkeye basketball and football teams. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed making clothing for her children as well as other sewing projects. She loved to spend time with her family. Evangeline married the “Love of Her Life” Lee on Valentine’s Day of 1950 and continued their love for one another till Lee’s death in 2017.

Evangeline is survived by her children, Tracy (Rick) Chase and Chris (Kevin) Vandersee; grandchildren, Kurt, Danny, Shawn, Tyler, Jason, & Julie, and 8 great-grandchildren;  as well as 2 nephews and 1 niece.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her parents, brothers Tom Chukas, and Paul Chukas.
