Burton D. Rodman, 98, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026. He was born July 27, 1927, in Ardale, Iowa to William and Jessie (Carpenter) Rodman. He was the youngest of nine children. After serving in the United States Army during Korean War, he returned home and married Mary E. (McCall) Rodman on October 11, 1953. Burton was a Test Equipment Supervisor and an Environmental Test Engineer during the 29 years he worked at Rockwell Collins. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing the keyboard in his spare time. He was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean (Roger) Judas; grandchildren, Brandon (Dr. Emily Haury) Judas and Lindsey (Drew) Emmert; four great-granddaughters, Myra Rose Judas, Hazel Mae Judas, Lilly Jean Emmert and Bailey Anna Emmert.
Burton was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mary; brothers Raymond (June) Rodman, Donald Rodman, Charles (Dorothy) Rodman, Roy (Grace) Rodman, Loran (Nona) Rodman, Harlan Rodman; sisters, Irene (Arlo) Brady, and Mary (Jack) Crabtree.
Funeral services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. 4200 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at 10:00 am. Interment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
