Memorial

Mary Jane Murray, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away March 16, 2026. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 23, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family. 

Mary Jane was born to Winfred L. Smith and Grace N. Millard Smith on February 28, 1938. She married Thomas G. Murray on November 22, 1955. He passed away in 1970, and she raised their 4 children Thomas Murray, Debra Murray Deal, Tim Murray, and Cory Murray. 

After her husband’s death, she worked for Sun Mart Store and then Collins and Cryovac Corporation for 10 years each. 

She recently joined the Catholic faith and was very happy with the new friends who came to see her and pray with her since she could not walk the last 7 years. 

In addition to her 4 children, Mary has 6 grandchildren, Nathan Deal, Jeremy Deal, Laura Santone (Luke Santone), Eric Deal (Rachelle Deal), Tom Howe (Diedre Howe), and Ashley Miller (Paul Miller); and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Murray; older brother, Ivan Smith; younger brothers, Rodney Smith and Jim Smith; and a sister, Onalee Mallory. 

She is free now, no more physical limitations. She is with our Father in Heaven. Mary was a very strong and courageous lady and we will miss her.
