Memorial

Ione LeHew, 94, went to be with the Lord at Hiawatha Care Center on March 9, 2026. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 3-6 PM at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Ione was born on September 26, 1931, in Central City, Iowa to A. Franklin and Lillian (Fellows) Mayer. She graduated from Central City Community School where she was an active member of the basketball team. She loved making hoops!

She met Wayne LeHew, the love of her life in 1949 at a roller-rink in Marion, Iowa; they married on November 26, 1950, in Coggon, Iowa. She was a loving wife, and they cherished every moment together. They made their home in Cedar Rapids, and she retired from Klinger Office Supply / Fidler Business Supply after more than 40 years of employment.

She joined Trinity Lutheran Church in 1959, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Fellowship Club, The Joy Group, and Circles. She organized and served the funeral lunches for many years.

She loved to travel, and they traveled to all 50 states and 11 countries. She also enjoyed gardening, hand sewing and crocheting. She loved people and never met a stranger. Ione always had a smile on her face and talked to everybody.

Survivors include multiple nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; husband of 73 years, Wayne in 2022, and multiple siblings.
