Our hearts are broken. The Gallery will never be the same without him. He was an inspiration, supporter and the heart of our gallery. Being with us for ten years he was a true artist but most importantly his was my friend.

So saddened by Cris's passing. I had looked forward to spending more time with him, laughing and learning. He inspired me to be a better artist. He will truly be missed.

Cris was a great artist and had a reputation envied throughout the artist community. But more than that, he was my friend. Our sense of humor clicked and we laughed at each other's twisted jokes and one-liners. We fed off each other and were two old guys laughing while some people just shook their heads. We drank coffee together several time a week along with my wife Deb. Then Fridays there might be some beer or whiskey. And Saturday afternoon might be wine. We weren't drunks, just geezers doing what friends do. I bought a piece of Cris' art without asking my wife because it moved me. And I knew my wife would agree. (and she did). Our last Christmas party, I was so lucky to get a small painting done by Cris in the gift exchange. These two pieces will add to my memories of Cris. Our gallery and our lives will not be the same with him gone.

Sending my condolences to the Sell family during this difficult time. I was fortunate enough to have met Cris over this past year when he was a board member of the Marion Arts Council. With a kind soul and great artistic taste, he assisted with the Lowe Art Gallery and did such a wonderful job. He will be greatly missed in the Marion community!

We did not have the pleasure of ever meeting Cris. I (Cherie) chatted many times with Cris on Facebook, references his paintings. He was such a talented artist. We are so proud of our big painting by Cris of a motorcycle and it hangs in our family room.
We adore his daughter, Lori and his son-in-law, Freddie. They are very special to us both. Lori has been very kind in giving me paintings of her dad’s work and they hang in my home. I love my sailboat painting as it has just enough splash of red to catch your eye every time you walked by.
My heart goes out to Lori and her family with the loss of her dad. I know everyone feels a tremendous loss but our greatest treasures are our memories. We hope everyone has wonderful memories to carry forward.
Our sincere condolences to the family.
Rest in Peace Cris
