John Joseph Gallo, Sr., 85, passed away at his home at Emery Place in Robins, IA, Monday, June 1st, 2026. A private family graveside service will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, June 13th. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Benchmark, Inc. located at 6065 Huntington CT N.E. Cedar Rapids, IA.

John was born June 12, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Anthony and Rose (Scolaro) Gallo. He graduated from the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, Iowa. John then worked for Cherry Burrell in Cedar Rapids for 40 years and retired in 1999.

John is survived by his twin brother Anthony Gallo; children, Debra (Dale) Hewett of Robins, IA, Daniel (Lori) Gallo of Clarksville, TN, Justin Gallo and Cherilyn Gallo of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Mitchell Benfer, Rick (Lindsay) Gallo, Chris (Johanna) Gallo, and Louis Gallo; great-grandchildren, Faith, Issac, and Carson Gallo and Veda Benfer; along with many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son's Jamie and John Gallo, Jr.; and siblings, Mike, Mary Grace, Anna, and Rose Louise.
