I am so sorry to learn of Mrs. Snook's passing. I was lucky enough to have her for chemistry and AP Chem. She inspired me, and countless othe women, to pursue a career in science. I remember the kindness and humor she used to lead every class. I hope that knowing the impact she had on so many helps to bring some peace to those that love her. Coach Snook was how I knew Deb. She was also a neighbor who lived up the street from us in Cedar Rapids. She is one of a handful of the teachers and coaches that I remember from Kennedy by name. Mostly, because she was that impactful of a person in everyone that she met. I am so very sorry to hear of her struggles with Dementia and Cancer. Deb was my best friend in high school, and I spent many hours at your home. I loved Bert Mahlstede! Deb was smart, talented, funny, and fun. We had great times together. As we kept in touch through the years, I knew how much she loved her family. I was able to see her just a couple years ago, and we shared a lot of good memories. Deb was such a special person and someone I was fortunate to know as both my counselor and AP Chemistry teacher. She was kind, funny, and a role model whose class gave me a strong foundation that helped me tremendously when I went on to study at Iowa State. One of my favorite memories is having my locker near the chemistry room and watching her hurry through the hall between her counseling office and the classroom. Even some of the top football and track athletes couldn't keep up with her pace when they were trying to ask her for advice. She never stopped moving, but she was always helping students, even during those rushed moments. It always made me smile, and it perfectly reflected who she was—someone who gave so much of herself to the people around her. I'll always be grateful for her guidance, her encouragement, and the lasting impact she had on my life. She will be deeply missed.

As one of her AP chemistry students back in 99, I can remember how much effort she put into teaching me lab technique even though I was pretty worthless at it. I mostly remember her enthusiasm for both teaching and learning, it was contagious. Never a dull hour in Snook's class. Thank you for being a bright spot in my memory of highschool. Im sure countless students over the years could say the same.

As a colleague of Deb’s, it is sad to learn of her passing. We spent many years working together at Kennedy High School. It’s especially difficult knowing how much she struggled with her health and well being the last years of her life. What a painful end for all who knew and loved her as a vibrant and caring person. First time meeting Deb she was an inviting a bright person! She had beautiful children that she loved and was involved with. She was so helpful with helping so many others children whether having a difficult time in the classroom or looking for advanced help with testing. She was definitely a part of the Cedar Rapids community. I have and will miss travelling with her for soccer tournaments. Her children are a great legacy that she created and grew! She will be very missed! But her memory will always bring a smile to my face!

I'm so sorry to hear of Mrs. Snook's passing. She was one of my favorite teachers at Kennedy. She brought joy to chemistry, a subject not usually known for being fun. I'm grateful for the support Mrs. Snook gave me when I was going through a difficult time not related to her class, and I remember fondly the times she laughed with me when I tried to come up with ways to make labs more interesting.
